Dear AmQuip,

I am a field superintendent for TKS Industrial Company. We hired AmQuip to provide us with cranes and operators for our project installing the paint shop here at Honda, in Greensburg Indiana. My major role here at HMIN was the installation of the Bumper Line. After the Body Line installation was mostly complete, the last operator they kept was then transferred to my area.

As I reflect back on what made this project a success for me, there is someone who comes to mind. I am writing to give a special thanks to Jerry "Pete" Young. Pete did an outstanding job for me and my team. I wish that the people in your office could understand or have seen the difficulties of our installation process. This is why it is crucial to have competent people to insure a quality and safe install. Here are just a few reasons why it was so great to have had Pete on our project.

Pete had perfect attendance while working on this project. This was important when you only had one operator. With no operator, it would shut down progress of many workers and hamper the schedule.

Not only was he there every day, he was there early. Pete made sure all equipment was inspected prior to each shift, and ready for starting time. During inspections, he also had a keen eye keeping up on preventative maintenance. Pete was able to identify prospective break downs. This allowed me to get repairs scheduled with no down time. Only if he was not able repair the equipment himself.

On several occasions Pete would stay late and work over time, only in a moments notice with no complaints. It was good to have someone who got involved in the project and understood my expectations as a supervisor.

There was many times that I would use Pete to make sure tasks where being completed by my crew, whether he was running a piece of equipment or just helping out. With his leadership skills and the ability to multi task, he brought great strengths to my install team.

As all of us know, safety is a crucial part of today's construction industry. This was also something that Pete paid close attention to. I recall a few times when the pressure was on. I asked Pete to pull a trick out of his hat. He would then bring me back to reality, study the situation, and then come up with a way or solutions to get a piece set. Whether it was a different type of equipment to be used, changing the rigging, or a different approach, Pete would get the job done.
